NIGHT GUARD

Are you grinding your enamel away? The use of a nightguard reduces the wear and tear on your existing healthy teeth. Grinding of the teeth is a medical condition called bruxism and will result in the wearing down of your natural tooth enamel.

In addition, it often relieves head, neck and jaw pain that may be associated with grinding. Nightguards are also considered to help TMJ (Temporal Mandibuliar Joint) issues, to relieve joint pain caused by grinding and clinching.

A nightguard is a custom tray made of clear, soft or hard material designed to fit over your upper or lower teeth as you sleep. Reducing the wear and tear caused by grinding or clenching.

FLUORIDE TREATMENT

New research shows that patients can experience 75% fewer new cavities if they consistently have a professionally applied fluoride treatment. This is big news for patients who are always struggling with decay.

If you have multiple crowns/fillings or other restorations, fluoride can help protect those investments in your teeth.

Fluoride has a long history of being known to help protect teeth from decay. Many dental products, like toothpaste, as well as public water sources now-a-days contain fluoride mineral for this reason.

However, due to the gaining popularity of processed foods (also containing a lot of sugar) and non-fluoridated toothpastes in the last decade, people are often not getting enough fluoride protection to offset the harmful effects of acidic/sugary foods.

At our dentist office, we recommend professional-grade fluoride treatment every 6 months (during your regular cleaning appointment). It is the easiest, fastest, and cheapest way to keep your teeth cavity free.

DENTAL SEALANTS

"Everyone has a 95% chance of experiencing caries in the pits and  fissures of their teeth, if sealants aren't used" - American Dental Association.

Posterior teeth (molars/premolars) are at higher risk of developing cavities due to their natural anatomy of of deep pits, fissures and grooves - making them harder to clean, especially for children.

Dental sealants are clear, thin layer of resin-based substance bonded directly to the occlusal surface of a tooth, where plaque and bacteria cannot penetrate.

They should be placed as soon as permanent molars/premolars develop.

CLEANINGS AND EXAMS

As potential problems in the mouth can progress significantly in just a few months, the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends seeing your dentist at least twice a year for a dental checkup and cleaning.

During your checkup, we assess your teeth for any problems including decay, cracks, and re-evaluate your old restorations to see if they need replacing. We also inspect the soft tissues in your mouth for periodontal disease, oral cancer, and other issues.

By doing regular checkups and cleaning every six months, we can often reduce the potential for large dental problems.
